Self-Care is Not Selfish: Cultivating Well-Being in Everyday Life
At this speaking event, Dr. Claire will help participants understand self-care basics, what it is and what it’s not and explore why self-care is an essential skill to support well-being. She will encourage participants to identify self-care strengths and improve upon areas needing attention and development. By the end of the event, attendees will be able to develop a manageable plan to increase personal self-care and well-being.
Self-Care for New Moms and Dads
There is no greater shift in life than the arrival of a new baby. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, participants will learn the importance of self-care to support well-being for new parents. Participants will find out how to identify when well-being is out of balance and find ways to establish self-care routines in the midst of time constraints and demands in the first year with a new baby. Partners will identify the means to support one another in addition to finding ways to cultivate individual self-care strategies to promote well-being.
Postpartum Depression and Anxiety: What You Need to Know
In this speaking event, Dr. Claire will educate participants in understanding the difference between the baby blues, post part depression and post part anxiety.
Attendees will learn how to screen for these symptoms whether for themselves, their partners and family members, or as health care professionals. Attention is given to how to intervene, get support and manage the symptoms of post part anxiety and depression.
Pregnancy Loss: How to Help Those who have Experienced Miscarriage, Stillborn, and Infant Loss.
One of the most challenging events an individual can experience is pregnancy loss, stillborn and infant loss.
In this speaking event, with sensitivity and care, Dr. Claire will cover how participants can support, heal and regain well-being after pregnancy loss. The talk will define what pregnancy loss is, the emotional aftereffects, and how others can support those who have experienced pregnancy loss, including partners, family members, and siblings.
Participants will understand the process of grief and mourning as it related to pregnancy loss with helpful strategies to support others. Attention will be given to how to respond to the news of loss, what to say and what not to say, as well as consideration for supporting others through the first year and beyond after experiencing a loss.
Please note, this talk may be modified to teach health care professionals how to help patients and families who have experienced pregnancy loss.
Jumpstart Your Well-Being for Moms
Moms have a lot of roles and responsibilities. At this event, moms will learn about the basics of self-care and well-being highlighting the importance of caring for themselves. Through manageable strategies, moms are encouraged to jumpstart their well-being with specific strategies to implement balancing a busy home and work life. This workshop can be modified as needed for audience composition, for example, Working Moms Jumpstart Your Well-Being.
